"Riboyra Sacrata" is an ancient term which appears by the first time at the Montederramo Monastery Foundation Minutes and make reference to the plentiful presence or monasteries and hermitages which from the V century started to populate the valleys of the rivers Miño and Sil, at the territory of the nowadays provinces of Lugo and Ourense. Besides the monasteries, the deep spiritual remembrance that was left by this epoch could be seen in the great number of Romanesque churches that bloomed along all the Ribeira Sacra (Sacred Bank) turning this one in one of the spaces with the bigger density of artistic inheritance at the Iberia Peninsula and also from Europe.
